Altahal/Altahalla

The following is a composite list of properties in the townland of Altahal (Altahalla).  The left side of the 
list contains the names of tenants occupying plots of land during the Tithe Applotment.  It also contains the 
acreage and value of said land according to the Tithe commissioners.  The numbers to the left of the 
tenant's name indicate the number of the entry in the Tithe Applotment book; the first number being the 
entry number within the town of Clonmany, and the second number being the entry number within the 
townland of Altahal.  The right side of the list contains names of tenants occupying plots of land during 
Griffith's Valuation.  The number to the left of the tenant's name indicates the property's location on the 
Ordinance Survey map of the time and the lower case letter next to the number indicates the exact dwelling 
within the property.  Names in parenthesis after the tenant's name are location or father's names used to 
identify persons who have the same name (i.e. John Doherty, son of Jack or Bryan Doherty, originally from 
Jockeystown).
