Notes for Charles deVeber Harpan: Dictated December 1999 by Dr. George A. deVeber: Letter from Charles deVebber Harpan dated January 28, 1959, states the following:
"The only grandfather whom I remember was Dr. Charles A. Boynton. My grandmother (Sarah Smith) married him in Boston Mass. after the death of her first husband who was a deVebber (note: have always spelled the name this way). My grandmother, to the best of my knowledge, was Sarah Jane Smith DeVebber their daughter by that marriage was Katherine DeVebber who was my mother."
Charles was not entirely sure of the name of his grandmother's first husband. According to Geo A.deV files, he was William Frederick deVeber (1858-1927) who married Sarah Smith, his grandmother.
Sarah Smith married twice; once to a deVeber. William Frederick and Sarah had a daughter, who in the first marriage family tree (Gab deV I) is called Katherine deVeber (b.1864-1934).
(sword belonging to Charles Harpan's great (or great-great) grandfather (Nathaniel Hubbard deVeber (1785-1877) is in the Fredericton Museum, donated by Charles Harpan?)
James White deVeber (1821- ) was his great-great grandfather.
