"Colonel Leverett DeVeber Chipman, died Kentville, 1914, aged 82 years (born 1832) Cornwallis. eldest son of W.H. Chipman, M.P. Col. L. Chipman succeded his father as MP. for King's County, also was manager of the Bank of Nova Scotia.
Was a Colonel in the King's Militia at the time of the Fenian raids, and after confederation was Lt. Colonel of the 68th King's Volunteer Militia.
Married early in life to Nancy Leonard Moore, daughter of Stephen Moore, Q.C., Judge of probate. Colonel Chipman's children - Lavinia (Mrs. Dimock) - Kentville; Ethel, husband of Barclay Webster, Q.C. - Kentville; Eva, husband of H. Botsord, manager fo the Royal bank of Canada in London England; Annie - married in England; only son - W.H. Chipman - died 1905 leaving two sons - L. de V. Chipman, editor fo the Annapolis Spectator, who died in action in the Boar War, and Reginald, Bank of Commerce, Calgary.
