Van Atta.). He married (1) Jannetje Jane Roosa May 1690 in Kingston, Ulster Co., NY (Source: Lorraine M. T. Luke, Roosa Family of America.). She was born 1670 in Hurley, Ulster Co., NY (Source: Lorraine M. T. Luke, Roosa Family of America.), and died May 1731 in Kingston, Ulster Co., NY. He married (2) Cornelia Van Aken 22 Jun 1731 in Kingston, Ulster Co., NY (Source: Ancestry.com Gene Pool Individual Records.). She was born 1664 in Ulster Co., NY, and died Unknown in Kingston, Ulster Co., NY.

Notes for Jan Jacobszen (John) Van Etten:
      Jan Van Etten was believed to have been baptized at Marbletown, 3 January 1666 .
      Jan Van Etten was an elder in the Dutch church at Kingston, and apparently lived at nearby Hurley, and at one time at Rochester NY; their children who settled in the Delaware Valley on both the PA and NJ sides of the river.

The following found in Eva Alice Scott's records.
      Jan Van Etten, Jacob b. Hurley, bp. at Marbletown, Jan. 3, 1666, eldest child of Jacob and Annetje (Adrianse) Van Etten. The date of his death was not found. M. 1690 or 1692 Jannetje Roosa, b. abt 1670, dau. of Capt. Arie and Marie (Pels) Roosa and g. daughter of Aldert Heymanse Roosa. Hoe's Kingston church records on p. 40, 43 states that Jan's second marriage record says that he is the widower of Jane Roosa. He m. 2nd. on June 22, 1731, Cornelia Van Aaken, widow of Jan Chammers.
      Jan's name appears on a list of inhabitants of Ulster Co. in 1689 and also on a list of freeholders in Ulster Co., town of Hurley, 1728. He was an elder in the Kingston Dutch church. We also find that he lived at Rochester, Ulster Co. He had a large family, mostly girls. The children of Jan, and their families nearly all settled in the Delaware Valley in N. J. or in Northampton Co., PA. Children are listed in the Doc. Hist. of NY Vol. 1, page 286 and Olde Ulster.
