BERNARD A. "BEN" THIELE

Ben A. Thiele, 67, of LaCrosse, died Thursday, June 20, 1996 in his home.
He was born August 13, 1928, in LaCrosse, to George and Sadie (Braun) Thiele. He married Mary Foley Oct. 18, 1958, in the Cathedral of St. Joseph the workman. Ben was Emplyed by the LaCRosse Paper Products , later known as Dalco, for 26 years until his retirement Jan. 1, 1996. He was a member of the LaCRosse Country Club for 42 years. He is a member of the Elks Lodge NO. 300 of LaCrosse and the Cedar Creek Country Club.
Ben is survived by his wife, Mary, an Aunt Esther Deschner of LaCrosse; and many neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a borther, George Jr.

Esther M. Deschner
Esther M. Deschner, 99, of La Crescent, Minn., went to join God on Saturday, September 11, 1999. Esther Was living at the La Crescent Health Care Center She was born August 10, 1900, to George and Sarah (Enos) Braun in Brownsville, Minn. She mar-ried Elmer Deschner in 1921 in Brownsville and he preceded her in death on February 18, 1972. Esther attend-ed Winona Teachers Col-lege and start-ed teaching in rural schools in Winona and Houston coun-ties when she was 16 and taught until her marriage.
      Esther and Elmer owned and operated a grocery store in Brownsville and later a car deal-ership in Caledonia, Minn. She was a life member of the Brownsville American Legion Auxiliary, an RSVP volunteer in La Crescent until she was 92, and a member of Crucifixion Parish.
She is survived by two daughters, Sally Stokely of Mobile, Ala., and Shiley (Tom) Lee of La Crescent; 13 grandchildren, Jef-frey (Esther Derby) Lee and Joseph Lee of Minneapolis, Debra Lee Kelly and Captain Michael (Amy) Lee of Charleston, S.C., Steven Lee of Brownsville, Robert (Tami) Lee and Thomas (Jenelle) Lee of La Crescent, Dr. Richard Lee of Westford, Mass., Donald (Carolyn) Stokely, Dean (Wanda) Stokely, Daniel Stokely and Doug Stokely, all of Mobile, Ala., and Diane (Steve) Gilreath of Fairhope, Ala.; 21 great-grand-children; and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her husband Elmer, she was preced-ed in death by three sisters, Ellen, Sadie, and Florence, and a grandson, David Stokely.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Sep-tember 15, 1999, at 10 a.m. at the Church of Crucifixion, La Cres-cent, with Monsignor Donald W. Grubisch officiating. Burial will take place in the Crucifixion Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crescent on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of ser-vices. A rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
Esther was a caring and loving mother and had a very special relationship with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed but always remembered by her family.

Ellen M. Toomey, 79, of Brownsville, Minn., died Monday, May 15, 1995, in her home. She was born in Brownsville on April 10, 1916, to Mike and Esther (Enos) Davy. She married Joseph Toomey on June 13, 1942, in St. Paul, Minn.
She was a lifelong resident of Brownsville, and enjoyed card playing, bingo, gardening and caring for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ellen was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the St. Joseph Circle.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph; six daughters, Jane (Virgil) Wohlwend of Onalaska, Mary (Wayne) Andersen of Colorado Springs, Colo., Joan Theobald of La Crosse, Laura (Stan) Dreisen of Caledonia, Minn., Terri (Shawn) Virock of Hokah, Minn., and Renee (Michael) Spinner of Brownsville, Minn.; three sons, Ray (Edna) Peterson of Roseburg, Ore., Michael Toomey of Brownsville, Minn., and Pat (Irene) Toomey of LaCrosse; 29 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Alice Bennett of Califomia; and one brother, Romis Davy of Brownsville. Ellen was preceded in death by her Parents and one sister, Mary Blair.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Brownsville. The Rev. Paul Breza will officiate, with burial in Veteran's Cemetery, Brownsville.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today in Blaschke Funeral Home, 401 West Ave. S., with a 7 p.m. rosary; and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Thursday, in the church.

Romis J. Davy, age 80, of Brownsville, Minn., died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, in La Crescent Healthcare Center, La Crescent, Minn. He was born in Brownsville, Minn. on Jan. 9, 1919, to Michael and Esther (Enos) Davy. He married Mary Therese Traversey on Oct. 18, 1948, in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Harpers Ferry, Iowa, and celebrated 51 years of mar-riage together He was employed by Trane until his retirement in 1985 after 38 years of ser-vice. He was a veteran of the US Army during WWII. He was a member of the Le Roy D. Holzwarth VFW Post 6801, St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the former Mayor of Brownsville, Minn. His hobbies included his gardening, yardwork, carpentry, charity work for the VFW and cooking oyster stew for their meetings. He is survived by his wife, Mary; two daughters, Michelle (John) Hompertz of Hillsboro, Wis., Jeanne Marie (Jack) Farnham Davy of Minneapolis, Minn.; one son, Joseph Davy of La Crescent, Minn.; and one sister, Alice (Richard) Bennett of West Coy-ma, Calif. He is further survived by two brothers-in-law, Jack Blair and Joe Toomey, both of Brownsville, Minn. and many nieces and nephews. He is pre-ceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Ellen Toomey and Mary Blair
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Brownsville, Minn., Rev. Paul Breza will offi-ciate with burial to be held in Veterans Cemetery, with military rites by the Le Roy Holzwarth VFW Post 6801, Brownsville, Minn. Friends and family may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services in the church on Satur-day. The Blaschke Funeral home is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials are preferred to be determined by the family at a later date.
