Find Family

I have managed to increase my family knowledge considerably since I first set up this page, and have met or contacted relatives that I had never met before. However, I still have little on my father's family. I have also made some corrections to the information that follows.

My father was Rudolph A. Diamond, from Chicago. He was the youngest of 5 children of Morris Max and Anna (Immermann)Diamond. The other children, oldest to youngest, are Pauline, Selma, Isadore, & Harry. All 5 were born in Cook County, IL

According to my father's birth certificate, Morris was from Lithuanian, and Anna was from Kurland. The story is that Morris met Anna in Berlin, Germany, while working in her father's store (it may have been a bookstore), and that they eloped and came to the USA (maybe with help from her father). However, the 1910 US Census, in Cook County, IL shows that Morris came to the US in 1888, at age 16. (Anna would have been 13 or 14) and Anna arrived in 1894.

I have a half-brother in the Chicago area who is 13 years my senior, and had a half-sister who died at 16 months of age (1952), in Marshall, Missouri. Her name was Anna Norine Diamond.

My father's brother, Harry Diamond moved to Charlotte, NC in the late 20s and opened a business called Chicago Sign & Sales. Harry's son, Haqrvey, developed the Plasti-Vac system for sign making.

Dad's sister, Pauline,& her husband had Vogue Optical, on Chicago's north side.

My Mother's parents were Lemuel J & Julia (Power) Garrison, from Scotland County Missouri. Lemuel's folks came from Blanchester, Ohio. A few years after his father died his mother moved to Minneapolis, Kansas with most of the children (in 1884). Her oldest stepson, Benjamin Mark Garrison, stayed in Ohio. Some of his children settled in Illinois. Julia's grandparents came from Kentucky.

I would appreciate any additional information, and would be happy to share what I have. I will add photos to this page from time to time.
