* George Arthur Dibble III*

Updated February 8, 2008

The Dibble family reports are mostly the work of VanBuren Lamb, Jr. In the 1940's he published his work in the magazine "Your Ancestors" which included Dibbles from Robert Deeble of Dorchester, Massachusetts through eight generations. On his final submission he wrote:

" This is the end of the eighth generation - that is as much as I have been able to work together, to date (25 Mar. 1951). I have records of many Dibbles who belong in here somewhere, but having no help from the branch of the family to which they belong, I shall just have to wait until I have the time and money to search the records in their locality personally.

There are remaining in my records of families allready placed, about enough material to fill another 200 pages. This will cover generations 9,10,11,12,13,14,and 15. It will be sent to the libraries within a years time - I hope."

I understand that Mr. Lamb died about 10 years ago and left all his records to the LDS Family History Center in Central Bridge, N.Y, except for the Dibble records, which were given by Mr. Lamb to a relative name Stephen Dibble.

Recently, through the magic of the Internet, Rev. Stephen Dibble contacted me. His nephew, Charles Ryerson, apparently was surfing the net and came across this page. Rev. Dibble gave the records to a relative who transcribed them to disk. Recently, files and note cards have been obtained. They are currently being inventoried and decisions have yet to be made on their future.

There currently is a free e-group of Dibble Family Researchers that share queries, and information, and files. Please see link below. (This group was created on 27 July 2001). It has about over 70 members who are very interested in the Dibble Family surname. Would be happy to have interested member join.
