John Peirce/Pierce remained In Duxbury until 1710 when the first entry in the town records of Pembroke, Plymouth Co., Massachusetts is the record of the vote to pay John Peirce for sweeping the meeting house. The vote to pay for sweeping the meeting house and for keeping the key was equivalent to saying that John Peirce was sexton to the Congregational Society or the Parish of Pembroke, which township was set off from Duxbury and incorporated as a distinct town on March 21, 1711.

Malachi was the son of William Holloway and his wife, Elizabeth Holloway. He married Elizabeth Shove the daughter of Rev. George Shove and Hopestill (Newman) Shove. They lived in Taunton, Bristol County, Massachusetts. In 1687, Malachi Holloway of Taunton presented a petition to Governor Andros concerning land granted to "his father William".

Their son, George, was a prominent early settler of Cornwall, Litchfield County, Connecticut. He moved to Connecticut from Massachusetts in 1739. In Cornwall, he was appointed to go to the legislature or "General Court" as it was then called, to seek incorporation for the inhabitants and was directed to call the first town meeting. He was chosen moderator of this meeting and was then elected the first town clerk. He was a captain of the militia and "read the Psalm" in public worship. He bought and then sold a large amount of land, some of which he sold to his brother, John, who lived with him, but when he died his estate was insolvent. Both George and his brother John were occasionally called "Doctor".

Malachi and Elizabeth Holloway's daughter Hopestill married Joshua Pierce who also moved to Cornwall, Litchfield Co., Connecticut.
