FIRST GENERATION

1. James MOORE was born on 12 Sep 1798 in Washington, PA. He died on 8 Dec 1867 in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Jackson Twp, Sect. 4, Lee Co., Iowa. James' parents are both born in PA according to the census and so are his wife Rebecca's parents. From the oral history handed down by the family. I believe that James Grand father came over from Ireland and settled in PA. We were given a sil-lay-lee (walking cane) that has been handed down from the original Moore that came from Ireland. We think that this was James Grand father's cane. We know that James and Rebecca with there children moved to Iowa in 1847 on a flat boat with another group of people.

Rebecca was born on 1 Dec 1801 in Washington Co, PA. She died on 22 Jul 1871 in Hickory Grove Cemtery, Jackson Twp., Section 4, Lee County, Iowa. James MOORE and Rebecca had the following children:

8 vii. David M. MOORE was born in 1849 in Washington, Hopewell, PA. He was a Farmer in 1870 in Lee County Iowa. CENSUS: 1870 Lee Co., Iowa State at he is a farmer.
