6. Thomas J. MOORE ⁽²⁾ was born on 3 Feb 1836 in Washington, Hopewell, PA. He died on 31 May 1905 in WARREN, Elkhorn, MO. He in Iowa. MILITARY: He enlisted in January 1862, in 2d Mo. Cav; was promoted to
Second, then to First Lieutenancy; the 2d Mo., with other veterans, were
transferred to the 13th Mo. Cav., after the close of the war, they were
placed on frontier duty; discharged in May 1866.
The family was given a box of old military papers written by my husband third great grandfather Thomas Moore. He was a 1st Lieutenant in the MO Calvary responsible for keeping and making the reports for supplies and muster rolls. At the time he joined he was living in Lee County, Iowa. I believe that some of these men listed may have come from Iowa also and joined the MO Calvary. You might have members interested in copies. The other thing that I found in these papers is the records for the Argyle Methodist Episcopal church being build. It turns out that Thomas Moore was in charge of the project and dealing with the contractors for all the supplies to build this church. I have a book listing every member donating money to build this church and how much each member pledged. The church should have had 24 rows ten foot rows and 2 eight foot rows and be built in 1890.

He was married to Jane MATHEWS (daughter of Paul MARSHALL MATHEWS and Nancy SPEER) on 26 Nov 1866 in Lee, DeMoines, Iowa. Jane MATHEWS was born on 6 Jun 1838 in Washington Count, PA. She died on 25 Jun 1911 in Warrenton, MO. MILITARY: She pulled widow pension applied 1905 July 15 App. # 831772 Cert

22 ii. Catherine (Katie) MOORE was born on 15 Sep 1869 in Lee, DeMoines, Iowa. ⁽⁴⁾ Was a teacher in Elkhorn, Warren Co., MO She died on 15 Dec 1929 in Warrenton, Elkhorn, MO. Katie was a school teacher in Warrenton, Warren Co., MO. Never Married.
