The Family of Joseph and Pricilla Wilkins Dillard

A MAN OF MYSTERY

Joseph Dillard is truly a man of mystery. Specific information cannot be found. He was born in Virginia (maybe) around 1755. He married Pricilla Wilkins in Richmond County, Georgia (possibly). The sketchy information above has been gathered by very indirect means.

We have been able to determine that they were married and had children. The one source of this information is that they and their children were mentioned in James Wilkins will. This will was filed in South Carolina. But, another mystery was her father Samuel or James?

There is an unsubstantiated rumor that Joseph and Pricilla died in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. We also know that some of the children are listed in the South Carolina census of 1820, 1830 and 1840.

By 1850, two of the sons and their families had moved to Alabama. They are on the Alabama census of 1850. In the 1860 census of Alabama, only one remained in Alabama, the other had moved to Arkansas.
