Letter to Augustine Wells DILLON (he was 24 yr.)from A. H. WELLS (Aug. 5,1861) "Dear Nephew" - about the mortgage that his now dead father (for 10 mo.), George, owed to him. He mentions how sad he was with his passing - "I have never thought there was any thing left for me to live for, until my oldest child is quite sick. I now find that I have a great deal to live for....". He offered to settle for half. ".. you had better make arrangements to pay it as soon as you can in order to save trouble ... but if I should drop off suddenly my administrator might make trouble that you and I would never have." (He was 43 yrs. when he wrote this)
