(a) This photo of the John Zimmerman - Mary Ellen Lewis Zimmerman gravesite, is located in the Old Rome Methodist Cemetery, adjacent to the Rome Chapel, also at this site. Mary Ellen Lewis(1845-1917) was the daughter of Wilson B. Lewis and Elizabeth Sowards. She was the half-sister of Nettie Dillon(shown at this site) by virtue of their common mother, Elizabeth Sowards. Mary Ellen was, however, 28 years older than Nettie, whom she and husband, John Zimmerman, adopted in 1873 upon the death of Elizabeth Sowards, shortly after the birth of Nettie Dillon.
