(a) Here lies Festus Dillon(1896-1918), son of Franklin "Frank" Dillon and Gilla
Mannon of Scottown, Ohio, a military casualty of WWI, having died October
20, 1918 of pneumonia in the final days of the war. His marker reads,
"FESTUS DILLON, PVT. 363 INF. 91 DIV., OHIO - OCT 20, 1918".
Festus is believed to have had the following siblings; Ruth, Frances "Frankie"
(who married Wilbur Curtis Burcham), Floyd J. (who married Sibyl Adella
Harmon), Delsie Myrtle, Osten Lewis (who married Alice Louise Callicoat),
Lew A. and Mildred (who married Frank Taylor). Franklin Dillon(1857-1939)
was the son of John Wylie Dillon, Sr.(1828-1892) and Catherine Sowards, and
the grandson of McCager Dillon(1786-1859) and Mary "Polly" Callicott. This
photo was provided by Patrick Lernout, who lives in Waregem, Belgium about
one mile from the US Flanders Field military cemetery. Mr. Lernout is
compiling a publication about the US military service personnel, buried at
Flanders Field. He would like to include a photo of each along with some family
information. Therefore, I am appealing for assistance from Lawrence Co.
descendants of this family for the location of a photo of Festus Dillon. (photo
