(b) "Braden County Soldier Gone" - "Jacob Dillon was born June 27, 1841 near
Louisville, Monroe County, OH. He died near Booker, Tyler County, WV
September 19(1904) at the age of 63 years, 2 months and 19 days. He was a
farmer until he inlisted under Captain Brown in the 116 Ohio Infantry. He
served 3 years and was discharged at Richmond, VA in 1865. He was
captured and was a prisoner in terrible Ersonville(Andersonville?) for 5 months.
He was wounded at Piedmont and carried the ball in his hip to the grave. On
January 18, 1868, he married Elizabeth Bunting who was born on February 17,
1847 to which union was born 10 children. Three boys and five girls are
surviving him. He was a consistant member of the United Brethren Church and
died in the faith of the living Christ. The funeral was conducted by the Reverend
F.G. Radabough after which his remains were laid to rest in the Victory
Cemetery in Tyler County. His wife Elizabeth is buried beside him (December
6, 1935) with just a rock slab for her grave marker. Two more slabs are there
for the 2 children who died young. THEIR CHILDREN ARE: 1.Thomas
Ellwood, 2.Louisa Jane, 3.Sarah C., 4.William W., 5.Jacob Russel, 6.John B.,
7.Clarrissa E., 8.Darcus Adaline, 9&10 were twins, Nancy Jane & Margaret
"Maggie" E.(born 3 days apart)." Jacob was the son of Hugh
