(a) Mary Dillon Payne, here photographed in her early adult life, the wife of Ellis James Payne(1845-1925), was the daughter of Squire (Jeter) Jerimiah Dillon, Jr.(1831-1912) and Mary E. J. Thornton(1833-1923), the granddaughter of Squire Dillon(1785-1857)and Celia Ward Dillon(1788-1865), decendants of the extensive Lawrence Co., Ohio Dillon line from Virginia. Mary Ann was the mother of Romulus, Charles Foster, Mary California, Sarah, Verda and Ethyl.
