Notes for Nicolas Delon:
Nicolas Delon died some time after 1731 in D67, 67, Bas the Rhine. If this is true, then it seems likely that it was one of his sons who arrived in 1949--thirteen years after Pierre Delon's arrival in 1736.

Nicolas Delon's second son, Nicolas Delon was born 24 Aug 1721: Nicolas son of Nicolas Delon and Margueritte Benoit; godfather: Nicolas Georgeon; godmother: Barbe Chrestien.

Because of the high infant mortality rate in those days, it was common practice for a family to name more than one son after the father in order to insure that the father's family name would be continued.

On 15 September 1749 a "Nicolas Delon" Arrived in Philadelphia on ship Phoenix, via Nassau, Zweibrucken, Wirtemburg, & Palatinate. The ship departed in Rotterdam, Germany and made one stop at Cowes, England. This is the same route that Peter (Delon) Delo took in 1736.

Nicolas Delon was born before about 1697 in D67,67,Bas the Rhine.1 On 20 February 1719 Nicolas Delon married Marguerite Benoit In Saulxures, 67, The Low Rhine, France.1 & 2 Marguerite Benoit was born about 1687 in D67,67,Bas the Rhine.1

1800 Dellon Dillow Delown Last Will & Testament: Last Will & Testament: Wife: Hannah receives house, stables, garden and 50 Pounds, put on interest. Heirs: Michael - receives Plantation and 172 acres he now lives on. Will pay 389 Pounds to his 5 sisters for the farm. Will pay 100 Pounds within one year - rest in pay ments of 25 Pounds (This was done by 1802 - DMD); Barbara (Mrs Anthony Bevenouer); Maria (Mrs. Adam Tallfer); Elizabeth (Mrs. Joseph Hilt/Hild); Catherina (Mrs. Dieterich Velte); Margaret - receives the saddle she wanted.
From the records, it appears that there were at least two Nicholas Delons and probably three, located in southeast Pennsylvania. The belief that there were two is brought about from the names of wives and dates of births of children. The belief that there were three is the tax of the "single man" in 1782. Perhaps a son of one of the earlier Nicolas Delons. Of the probable three Nicolas Delons in Southeast Pennsylvania, only one has a documented birth and death date.
