Josef served in two wars, one probably was the Astro Prussan War of 1866 e.g., the Seven Weeks War, and the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/1871.According to oral tradition, Josef's life was saved by a Prayer Book, he had in his breast pocket over his heart, when a bullet struck him in the chest.
