I am currently researching the surname DOANE. Others that I will eventually start on are FORSHAW, LORD, and WALLS. The Doane family name originates from the Plymouth area circa 1630. I have found it nearly impossible to find information on my great grandfather GORHAM LINCOLN DOANE b. November 02, 1849, Cohassett, Mass. d. November 04, 1924 Boston, Mass. Gorhan married ELLINOR CALNAR unk. place and date of birth, d. December 12, 1935 in Richmond Hill, New York. I believe she was approximately 55-60 years of age at the time of her death, which made her much younger than her husband. If you have any leads or suggestions on GORHAM LINCOLN DOANE or ELLINOR CALNAR please email me. Gorham is reported to have been a seaman, possibly a sea captain, however, this has never been proven. Ellinor gave birth to my grandfather ALDEN LINCOLN DOANE Sr. in New York City December 12, 1891.
