DEANE Family: In 1849, an article appeared in Vol. III of the "New England Historical and Genealogical Register" on the family of Walter and John Deane of Taunton, MA. While it is presently unknown how Walter and John may have been related to the Deane family of Bath and Wells, their origin in Somersetshire lends credence to such an attachment.
