The Political Career of Dr. William Rodham Kenner
KENNER Family: Dr. William Rodham Kenner was a State Representative for Jackson County Tennessee in the 27th (1847/48), 28th (1849/50) and 33rd (1859/60) General Assemblies. He also participated in the passionate Extra Session of 25 April 1861 in which debate upon the topic of Secession from the Union raged upon the floor. Dr. Kenner's pedigree reflects a great concentration of historic names from the Northern Neck of Virginia. He was a 4th cousin once removed of Robert E. Lee; his wife, Jane Settle Kenner, was a second cousin of Gen. George E. Pickett of the ill fated "Pickett's Charge". Suggested Reading: "Biographical Directory, Tennessee General Assembly, 1796-1969, Clay, Jackson & Putnam County" (Tennessee State Library & Archives, Nashville).
