LEE Family: Richard Lee the Founder is the progenitor of all the famed Lees of Virginia and Maryland. He emigrated to Virginia ca. 1640, and served as Clerk of the Quarter Court, as Attorney General of Virginia, as Burgess and High Sheriff of York County, as Secretary of State and a Member of the Council. His line flows additionally to the Kenner family of Virginia and Tennessee, through his daughter Elizabeth Lee who married Leonard Howson. Among his noted descendants we find Richard Henry Lee, Robert E. Lee, and President Zachary Taylor.
