"Introductio ad Latinam Blasoniam" by John Gibbon

LEE FAMILY - In 1682 John Gibbon, "Bluemantle Pursuivant" of the College of Arms in London, published this volume to illustrate an "Essay to a more correct Blason in Latin than formerly hath been used". On pages 156 and 157, we find reference to his friend and associate Richard Lee, the Founder. Gibbon took time to commemorate the voyage of Richard Lee to Breda, Netherlands to the exiled court of Prince Charles (II) in 1650. Moreover he makes direct reference to the long held assumption that Col. Lee's parentage should be sought in Shropshire England.
