MITCHELL FAMILY - Isaac Green Mitchell was the paternal great-grandfather of the author Margaret Mitchell. He married Mary Ann Dudley in 1829. He was possibly the earliest ordained Methodist clergyman of Atlanta Georgia, having moved there in 1856. Isaac was the 3rd generation of the Mitchell family to dwell in the United States. His father, William Mitchell was a veteran of the War of 1812, and of the "Battle of New Orleans". His grandfather, Thomas Mitchell served as a Lieutenant in the Continental Line, Georgia Brigade during the Revolutionary War.
