DODD Family: Agnes (Dodd) Walker was the oldest member of the Dodd family with whom I have ever had an interview. In 1975, she provided the core information from which all my Dodd family research has grown and developed. Agnes was born in Glasgow, Barren County Kentucky in 1885; At the age of 5, she moved with her parents to Modesto California. Agnes was always proud to be a professionally trained business woman. She began training at the Polytechnic Business College of Oakland. She was also employed for 8 years by Upjohn & Co., and was a troubleshooter for Remington Typewriter Company. In 1915, she was secretary of the Massachusetts Bldg. at the San Francisco Worlds Fair. The list of achievements goes on to include meeting President Hoover in 1920. She married Maurice Walker in 1925, and returned for a visit to her birthplace. Agnes and Maurice developed a ranch in Fallbrook, San Diego County, California where they grew lemons and avocados. There, she gave care to her mother Sallie (Ragland) Dodd until 1960, and she lived to the ripe old age of 96, in 1981.
