LOFTIS-WATSON FAMILY - Hester Loftis was the daughter of James Powell Loftis and his wife Artemicia Leak. Hester married James Watson on 20 October 1872. James Watson served in Company H, 32nd Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry, Army of Tennessee, C.S.A. He was a private on 6 May 1862, and was discharged by civil authority at Savannah, Georgia on 21 October 1862. James and Hester Watson were the maternal grandparents of Virgil Miller Newton II, the award-winning editor of the Tampa Tribune, in Tampa, Florida.
