LOFTIS-WATSON - Mattie Watson was born 21 January 1880, the daughter of James E. Watson and Hester Ann Loftis. She was the grand-daughter of James Powell Loftis and Artemicia Leake. Mattie Newton was the mother of the editor of the Tampa Tribune, Virgil Miller Newton Jr.
