Wallace Lacy Seawell
LOFTIS-THOMAS-SEAWELL - Wallace Seawell was born in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of John Flynn Seawell Sr., and Alice Thomas. He is the great-grandson of James Powell Loftis, and Artemicia Leak. He moved with his mother, Alice (Thomas) Seawell to Sarasota, Florida in about 1925. He graduated from Sarasota High School and attended the Ringling Art School, after which he moved to Hollywood, CA in 1943. He worked at the Paul Hesse Studio, where he achieved an unparalleled career as "photographer to the stars." Over a 60-year career, he photographed such Hollywood stars as: Elizabeth Taylor, Gregory Peck, Rock Hudson, Paul Newman to mention only a few. Wallace Seawell will be remembered as one of Hollywood's great photographic artists.
