LOFTIS-WATSON-NEWTON FAMILY - This photograph of Artemicia Loftis and her great-grandson Virgil M. Newton Jr., was taken in Atlanta, GA ca. 1906, possibly at her residence at #8 Ponders Ave. Virgil's parents were Mattie Emma Watson and Virgil Miller Newton Sr. Virgil Newton Jr. grew up to become the award winning editor of the Tampa Tribune in Florida. Mattie Watson Newton was the daughter of Hester Ann Loftis and James E. Watson, a Confederate Civil War veteran.
