LOFTIS FAMILY - Uncle Parks Loftis was born in Forsyth Co., GA on 21 October 1846, the son of James Powell Loftis and Artemicia Leak. At the age of 17 years, he registered for the 1864 reorganization of the Georgia State Militia. In 1883, he appeared as a "sawmaker" in the Atlanta City Directory, and as a "foreman" in the "penetentiary" from 1888 to 1891. After 1892 he was a "grading contractor." "Brother Parks" was a bachelor for most of his life and married a woman named Beulah shortly before his death in 1899.
