Descendents of the Jobs and Jakubowski Families of PolandUpdated December 30, 2011 | |
| As the grandson of immigrant families, Jobs and Jakubowski, it was not apparent to me at an early age that I should be asking allot of questions as I was growing up. My family was very close nit and they would get together every Sunday after church. Some of my cousins would travel an hour to come visit grandmother. We were very close to our cousins and we witnessed the closeness of our grandmother with her family, sisters and brothers. This Love spilled over into the next generations and we were called the kissing cousins. always giving hugs when we got together and when we departed. Once a year we would have family reunions, where all my grandmoms sisters and brothers families would get together. Back then, we didn't call it that. As time went on and the older generation was getting older and we were losing them, one cousin, Nancy(Jobs)Linquist thought about putting together a Family Tree and gathered the names of all the cousins of the family. She had a Family Tree board setup showing all the branches. It sparked an interest in me to want to be a part of it all. I've been working with Nancy on it ever since and at the 1985 family reunion in Virgina I brought my desk top and printer with me and started updating all the information on the computer program "Family Treemaker". I searched the internet and found places like the "Ellis Island Foundation" and the "Family History Library" in Salt Lake City. I've gathered lots of information over the years and am continually updating current family information. I will pass this onto my family and hope that my children will continue when I can no longer do it. Walter E Doernbach |
