Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
We are Patrick James Doherty and Janet Katherine De Long Doherty. We live in Northern California. We are new to genealogy but Janet is enjoying researching our family trees.
Pat's Irish Roots
Pat's grandparents all came to the United States in the early 1900's. Their names were: Patrick Doherty and Katherine Gallagher; Anthony Morrisroe and Nellie Sullivan. We do not have very much information on their roots in Ireland at this time.
Janet's American Roots
Janet's grandparents all had long roots in the United States. Their names were: Scofield De Long and Naomi Gignoux; Merle Mosely and Margaret Philipp. They descended from English, French, Irish, Dutch, Bohemian, Welsh, Scottish and Chippewa ancestors. Many of their ancestors were among our nation's first settlers from Europe. Janet has family histories of the Gignoux and Mosely families. She does not have much information on the De Longs (French Canadians) or the Philipps (from Bohemia). She has obtained a lot of information on the Internet about the Scofield and Dewey families.
This project is new and ongoing. Good luck to all "roots" researchers!
