Find Family

I have been interested in locating my ancestors for a long time. My mother has had great success with locating her ancestors, and this enabled me to join the SAR. My Father's side of the family has been more difficult because he is a first generation German. I believe that the original spelling of my name was Donath, which in German is pronounce "Donet", with the "H" being silent. My Grandmother's maiden name was "Schampel" and she was born in Saarbrucken, Germany. While visiting the "German Chat Rooms" on AOL, I met a young man who lived in Saarbrucken. He researched my family there back to 1507, and has sent me a hard copy of his research. It turned out that he is a distant cousin, what luck. Last year my wife and I went to Saarbrucken and met with him. It was a very pleasurable experience. I think that he will eventually come to the states and visit with us.
My Father's side has been a little more difficult. My Grandfather came from Sachsen, and I don't really know exactly where. I hope that someone may read this and know something that could help me.
