Notes for Hannah MCCAFFERTY:
1776 Bath County - See source for Hannah. Since Bath County is bordered by both Augusta and Rockbridge, where Cormac and his children were, I only assume at this time that Hannah is a daughter of Cormac's.

      7. John2 MCCAFFERTY (Cormac1) was born 1760 in Botetourte Co., VA, and died 1840 in Union Co., SC. He married (1) Elizabeth "Betsy" BYRD. He married (2) GILLEY in Union County, South Carolina.

Notes for John MCCAFFERTY:
1777-1780 Revolutionary War: John McCafferty Prvt., Capt. Uriah Goodwyn's Co. in 3rd Reg't of SC Continental Troops commanded by Col. Wm.       Thompson. Date of enlistment; February 26,1777 to February 1780.       Note: Uriah Goodwyn is living in Lexington County, SC in 1785. He is buried in the family cemetery in Mill Creek, Richland County, SC. He       was declared deranged due to the war in January of 1783. He died in 1786.

1796 Union County SC Court records John McCaharty (sic) sold to Enoch Pearsons land. 1796 land endenture Union Co. Mesne Conveyance deed Bk. D 1794-1797.

1801 Union County SC, Estate sale of Cormack McCafferty, deceased, John McKafferty (sic) purchased items

1808 May 5, John and Betsy Mccafferty sold all their land in Union County, SC to Thomas Willard in May of 1808. The sale was witnessed by Harrison and Sally Brandon. In the sale agreement, the land is mentioned as "this land being the dowry of Betsy." Note: This land was next to one Joseph Howard whom in April of 1821 did "by the insigation of the devil and his own wicked
heart did felonously kill and murder himself by taking a cotton rope of the value of 12-1/2 cents, put one end around his neck and the other end he tyed to the bough of a tree and forthwith did stifle himself to death. Dated 21 April 1821." Union Co coroner's Inquisitions 1806-1869."
