Bridgette Donnelly, Thomas Christian Donnelly, Thomas M. Donnelly, Thomas James Donnelly, Thomas John Donnelly, Michael Donnelly, all their siblings, and on back through a direct male line, are all of the patrilineal clan of “Oisin” (pronounced “O-sheen”) (Y-chromosome clade R1b). Oisin lived about 40,000 years ago in the Celtic area of Western Europe. Oisin was one of about seventeen men alive at that time from whom all people alive today are descended. Going back farther in time, Oisin’s ancestor is Y-chromosome Adam from Africa who lived about 80,000 years ago. All modern humans today are descended from Y-chromosome Adam.
