"SOCIAL HAPPENINGS

Mrs. John H. Doran and sister Miss Jessie Cleary were hostesses Thursday evening to a company numbering about twenty-five young ladies. The gathering was in honor of Miss Mae Boyle, a bride-elect and assumed the nature of a kitchen shower. The dining room at the Cleary home, where the function was given, was tastefully decorated in bridal wreath. Streamers of pink ribbons were strung from the center chandelier to the table, above which a large wedding bell was suspended. A two course repast was served, which was followed by music and the "shower". Little Mary Elizabeth Doran, winsome daughter of Mrs. J. H. Doran, who was daintily drest as a bride, wearing a white frock and a long veil, escorted the guest of honor, who was blindfolded into the room where the shower was given and as each gift was presented the recepient had to tell the use for which it was intended without being able to see it. This occasioned much merriment. This was the third pre-nuptial gathering given for Miss Boyle. whose marriage to George E. Doran of Menominee is announced for Wednesday June 14."

Monday 12 June 1911 from the Marinette Eagle-Star

"Mrs. Charles McCrory entertained the members of the Doran-Boyle bridal party at a dinner party last evening. Mrs. McCrory is a sister of the prospective groom. This evening a party of fifteen young people will form a Bijou party, later going to the Boyle home in upper Hall avenue for refreshments."

"SOCIAL HAPPENINGS

This morning at a nuptial High Mass in the church of Our Lady of Lourdes, Miss May Marjorie Boyle was united in the holy bonds of wedlock to George Edward Doran of Menominee. The Rev. Fr. Tulley was the officiating clergyman. The church was filled with friends of the young couple to witness the ceremony.

It was just 8 o'clock when the strains of the Lohenrgrim's wedding march announced the approach of the bridal party. They came down the main aisle, the maid of honor Miss Lillian Boyle, sister of the bride, Floyd Doran, brother of the groom, best man heading, then came the bride leaning on the arm of the groom. The Rev. Fr. Tulley met them at the altar and then and there were pronounced the solemn words that made them man and wife. The nuptial High Mass followed; the choir rendering for the first time Cary's Mass in honor of the bride. The full choir sang the Mass. After the Mass the bridal party left the church to the music of the Mendelson march and proceeded to the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Boyle, 2014 Hall avenue where a wedding breadfast was served. Relatives of the contracting parties were the only guests.

The entire church ceremony was a beautiful and impressive one. The bride looked radiant in a gown of embroidered chiffon with yoke of baby Irish lace trimmed with pearls. She wore a necklace of pearls and a veil, and carried a prayer book with streamers of lillies-of-the-valley. Miss Lillian Boyle, the bridesmaid, was attired in a gown of pink crepe de chaine with a picture hat to match, and carried a shower bouquet of peonies. The bride's traveling costume was a dark blue suit.

The wedding breakfast catered by Madame Schons. The color scheme was pink and white. The house was beautified with pink and white roses, smilax, and streamers of white and pink. The breadfast was served in five courses. The place cards were hand painted. The wedding breakfast was served by the Misses Della Neidl, Elinor Cleary, Katharine Kennedy, Dollie Jordan, and Bridget Boyle. The guests from outside were Charles Boyle from South Dakota, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Boyle of Stambaugh and children John and Claire.

Mr. and Mrs. Doran left this noon on their honeymoon trip to Montreal, a large party of friends bidding them farewell at the station. They will return to reside in a home on Pierce avenue. The bride received a fine array of beautiful gifts including several checks. Both the bride and groom possess a host of friends in the twin cities. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Boyle, pioneer residents of Marinette. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Doran old residents of Menominee."
