Ireland appears in the 1850 Census in Milwaukee City, Milwaukee, Wisconsin as a Superintendant of the Alms House (a residence for paupers). Also living with him at the same address are non-paupers, Mary Mulligan, age 23, b. Ireland (listed as as an Assistant to Bernard at the Alms House), and Thomas Keogh, age 10, b. Ireland.

Note that Bernard's land is adjacent to Edward's in the Section 20, Block 11. Thomas' land is adjacent to Edward's in Section 17, Block 11.
