"The James Doran Family resided at 611 Williams Avenue (now 9th Avenue).Mr. Doran was born in County Carlow, Ireland in 1847 and came to the US in 1860 as a lad of 13.His father had died, presumably during the Irish potato famine, leaving a young widow, Kitty Keough (Kehoe) and 3 children, John, James, and Johannah. They settled in Oconto, where there was a large Irish community including many relatives.Here James married Mary Ann Roach, whose father had died in the civil war, and the couple moved to Menominee purchasing the home on William Avenue.James was employed as a log scaler for the Wells Lumber Company. The Doran's had 6 children, all of whom attended St. John's School and Menominee High School.Three boys-John, Herbert and Edward-became accountants while Roy was a career Army Officer. John was married to Elsie Cleary; Herbert to Anne Laurin; Edward to Helen Rock, then Myrtle St. John; Roy to Cecile McGinnis.Katherine married William Ounsworth, who operated Woodford and Bill Piano company on Main (1st) Street, and was a popular baritone at local gaterhings.Frances never married and now lives in at Oconto, the last surviving offspring.Children and grandchildren of John and Herb still reside in the area."

DORAN
James C. Doran, for 55 years a resident of Menominee, died at 5 o'clock this morning in the home of his son, Edward Doran, 1844 Wisconsin street, Marinette.
Mr. Doran was 87 years of age and was born in Ireland. He had been ill for the past 14 months in the home of his son, with whom he had been residing for more than three years. Mrs. Doran preceded her husband in death six years ago.
The survivors are the following children: Edward, John and Frances of Marinette; Herbert of Menominee and Roy of Chicago; and one brother, John of Menominee.
The body was prepared for burial at the Lemieux funeral home of this city and will be returned to the Doran home in Marinette at 10 o'clock Sunday morning. Funeral services are to be held Monday morning with interment in Riverside cemetery."

The funeral of James Doran, a long-time resident of Menominee, who died Friday in the home of his son Edward, 1844 Wisconsin street, this city, will be held Monday morning at 8:30 o'clock in the son's home and at 9 o'clock in Our Lady of Lourdes church. The Rev. John R. McGinley will be the celebrant of the requiem mass. Interment will be in the family lot in Riverside cemetery, Menominee.
Remains were removed to his son's home from the Lemieux funeral home, in Menominee, late this afternoon.
Members of Menominee Council, Knights of Columbus, are requested to assemble in the Lemieux funeral home at 7 o'clock Sunday evening to go to the Doran home to recite the rosary."

The funeral of James C. Doran, Menominee pioneer who died last week in the home of his son, Edward, 1844 Wisconsin street, this city, was held Monday morning at 8:30 o'clock in the home and at 9 o'clock in Our Lady of Lourdes church. The Very Rev. John R. McGinley celebrated the requiem mass and interment was made in Riverside cemetery.
Many beautiful flowers and spiritual offferings were received in the home and the casket was borne to its final resting place by four sons, John, Herbert, Roy and Edward Doran and two grandsons, Francis and John Doran.
Attending the rites from away were Mr. and Mrs. Roy Doran, their two daughters, Jean and Mary of Chicago; Fred Murphy of Iron River, and J. Harney of Millville, Minn."
Author's Note: The J. Harney mentioned in the May 8, 1934 obit above is probably Mrs. J. Harney, the former Catherine Hayes, daughter of James Hayes and Johanna Doran. Johanna is James C. Doran's sister. Mr. J. [Jeremiah Patrick] Harney died in 1933. His wife Catherine Hayes Harney died in 1958.

"MOTHER OF LOCAL MAN DIES TODAY
Mrs. Mary Doran, wife of James Doran of 611 Williams Ave., Menominee, died this morning at 5 o'clock at her home. Mrs. Doran had been in failing health since she fell and broke her hip about four years ago, but death resulted from heart trouble. Her final illness was of four months duration.
Mary McKeever Doran was born in Oconto, Wis., on January 18, 1857. On December 1, 1875, she was married in Oconto to James Doran and together they came to Menominee in 1883. They have resided there continually during the past forty-five years. The survivors are the husband, the following children, John H. Doran of Marinette, Herbert J., Edward C., and Miss Frances J. Doran of Menominee, and Roy F. Doran of Chicago, two sisters, Mrs. Patrick Curley of Stiles, Wis., Mrs. Robert Telford of Milwaukee, a brother, George McKeever of Milwaukee, and eighteen grandchildren. Another brother, William McKeever of Oconto Falls, died on April 17, at a sanitarium in Milwaukee where he was receiving treatment.
The body was removed to the Lemieux Funeral Home and will be taken back to the family home Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Funeral services will be held Monday morning from St. John's church and the Very Rev. Father Dennis Cleary will officiate. Interment will be at Riverside.
Mrs. Doran was a member of the Altar Society of St. John's church and was also a member of St. Mary's Court of Foresters."

"FUNERALS
DORAN
A solemn requiem high mass was solemnized this morning at St. John's church, Menominee upon the occasion of the funeral of Mrs. James Doran, who died last week. The cortege formed at the family home at 8:20 and proceeded to the church where the mass was offered at 8:30 by the Rev. Father Dennis Cleary, assisted by the Rev. Father F. G. Tulley and the Rev. Father Peter Salm of Marinette.
The room in which the casket lay at the Doran home was filled with beautiful floral tributes, silent tokens of the high esteem in which the decedent was held by her many friends. Six members of St. Mary's Court of Foresters, acted as honorary pallbearers. They were Mrs. Hinker, Mrs. Seidl, Mrs. Wachowiak, Mrs. Stauber, Mrs. Coakley and Mrs. Seidl. The active pallbearers were Frank, Lawrence and Tom Barrett, R. J. Mullins, F. A. Wachowiak and Ed. Buckley. Interment was made at Riverside, the casket being encased in a steel vault and consigned to a grave lined with cedar.
Relatives from away who came to attend the final rites included Mr. and Mrs. Roy F. Doran of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Leo T.
