The Name Dornieden is a German Surname which can be traced back into 14 century.The Name means " the People ,which live down here ", (Named after the location).
I have today about 7200 Persons in my Familie tree , with
over 112.000 entrys.But that is just the beginning to put my
13 Years research into the Computer.
The name Dornieden is moast common in the region "Eichsfeld" in
Germany where they appeared about 1640.They came from the Grafschaft Spiegelberg south from Hannover.The Grafschaft Spiegelberg was from 1631 part of the House of Nassau-Dietz wich later became the house of Nassau-Orangie (Royal House of the Netherlands ).The old Family Ledgend say's that the first Dornieden came from the Netherlands seems to be true in the light ,that the Grafschaft Spiegelberg was part of the House Nassau-Dietz (1631).
The Family is concentrated in der Grafschaft Spiegelberg about 1585 (Kopfsteuerbeschreibung 1585 ).Before that we can find a the Name in the Region of ,Brilon,Ende,Hagen and Schwerte in the Ruhrgebiet Region.
