DORMIS - DORMISH - STRUMBLE - STRUMBEL
STRUMBELJ - VOGLARCEK
I am researching my great grandparents and grandparents families:
Ales Dormis (Dormish) and wife Ursula Strumble (Strumbelj), both born near Lujubljana, Slovenia. Ales was born (probably in Ig) on 17 August 1855. She was born (possibly in Ig or close by) in Oct 1859. They traveled to the USA in 1890 or 91, settling in Barberton, Summit CO, Ohio in 1891 where she became the first Slovenian landowner in the town.
Ales and Ursula imigrated with daughter Josephine Frances, b. December 1889 leaving behind son John, b. 22 June 1880 in Ig, who immigrated to Barberton in 1895.
She was the daughter of Jerry and Ursula Strumble and had two siblings that I have found... Paul (who immigrated to Barberton at age 31 and died in 1904, two years after arriving there) and a sister Mary. Mary married a Pogorelec (Jake?) and moved to Colorado. Ursula's parents also immigrated but I have no further information on them.
Also researching Mary Ursula Voglarcek, b. May 1883 in Velike Lasce, Slovenia, d. 7 November 1962 in Barberton, Ohio. She was married to John Dormish, son of Ales and Ursula, in about 1903.
BREWERY: Some of the family also owned and operated a Brewery. I have heard it was either in Italy near Venice or in the Bavarian Alps. Any information about this or any person listed here greatly appreciated. Will be glad to share any information I have regarding this family.
NOTE: Ig and Velike Lasce were listed as being in Austria when family members immigrated. Slovenia was part of the Austrian crownlands at that time.
