Howell, Horton and Allied Lines

When someone says "researching genealogy" to me, the first thing that I ask them is: "are you researching or are you copying someone else's work?" If you are copying, then you are not researching.

Genealogy can be one of the most rewarding hobbies that you could possibly have. It takes you to places you'd never go to, you meet relatives that you didn't know exhisted and you have a very strong sense of accomplishment when you have completed a line.

Many days are spent in libraries. Some days are rewarding and some are very unfullfilling, but for the most part, you'll always come away with something to add to your puzzle.

The Howell Line was my easiest, because there was alot information available. The Horton line has been the hardest.

These particular lines contribute to the population of the early south, from Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and extend into Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana and into Texas.

Anywhere you go, someone knows either a Howell or a Horton.
