      OBITUARY                  ALFRED HARTLEY

      Alfred Hartley, was born August 26, 1851, and departed this life May 9, 1927, being 76 years, 8 months, and 13 days old. He leaves five children, 34 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren; one brother and a host of other relatives and friends. He also had 5 children, 12 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren deceased. He was a kind and loving grandpa, and to know him was to love him. Hs remains were laid to rest in Lemasters Cemetery, near Wileyville.

Note:

Although the obituary list his birth year as 1851, research shows it to be really 1849. And my research leads me to believe that the name of the cemetery is also Kirkland cemetery, just on top of the hill outside of Wileyville, on the right, in a field. Unmarked grave when I was there about 1985.

1880 Census shows Alfred as Married within the year, but no wife listed.
Divorce from Barbara Elliott was Oct., 1877,
In 1870 Barbara Elliott was listed with an aunt and uncle [Davis] on Allen Ridge.
In 1873, her grandfather, Absalom Postlethwait listed her in his will [her mother was deceased] as Barbara Ellen Hartley.

Jane's father Matthew, m.[2] Rebecca Horner age 45 7 Apr 1889
      m[3] Mrs. Elizabeth Hall, 64, widowed on Oct 19, 1905.
      He died May 25, 1908 and left a will and codicil----everything
      to Elizabeth. no mention of his children. Although of the Hundred
      area, his latter years were at Steelton, now a section of New
      Martinsville.

Survived by: Husband, Henry Latzch; children: Mary Curtis, Bloomingdale, Ohio; Ocie Gorby and Anna Lee Storm, both of Paden City; Ella Meko, of Benwood; a brother Robert Merriner, of Hundred.
Burial in Walker Cemetery, New Martinsville.

Per Melba Beard who revised and edited Gorby book, Jane at one period lived at Richmond, Ohio.
