6. JESSE² COURTWRIGHT (THOMAS¹) was born 16 December 1815 ²², and died 09 July 1871 in Richhill Twp., Greene Co., PA ^23,²⁴. He married STANZA DUNN. She was born 17 March 1823, and died 23 December 1865.

July 19, 1871: Jesse Courtwright, a farmer living near Jacksonville, was found lying dead in a field near his home on Monday morning of last week. He lived alone and evidence was conclusive that he was killed by lightning.

Query: Could Stanza have been his second wife? My original notes list a Mary as a possible first wife, possibly dying about 1849.

Query: Elizabeth listed as Child no. 1, born 1841, and Elizabeth Jane, listed as child no. 8, born 1856. Why are two living children listed with the same name? Were there different mothers, or a stepchild?

This line is confusing due to the many abbreviations used by the census taker.
