| I am researching the families decending from WILLIAM GEORGE DOUBLEDAY and his wife CHARLOTTE AUSTIN. I believe that they arrived in Canada, from England, in about 1876. They lived in and around the area of Wingham, Ontario. They had five sons- Walter, married to Lucy Hart; Bert, married to Ada Kennedy; Jack, married to Kate Wolf(e);George Edward; and William Henry, married to Martha Jane Haggitt. It has been said that there were other Doubleday family members on the ship from England that went to the U.S., but I have no leads yet in this direction. I am also seeking information on the following lines, mostly from the Ontario, Canada area: BEAUBIER, BOBIER, COCKERLINE, DOBBYN, DOLSEN, DOWSWELL, FANSHER, FORD(from Michigan), HAGGITT, McINTOSH, McLELLAN, MEREDITH, SCARLETT, & WINTERMUTE. Also : The DOWSWELL and SCARLETT families that were in Jamaica. I would gladly share any information that I have. |
