The W. B. (Bill) Douglas Home Page

Updated September 5, 2000

I am a Missourian who grew up in Creighton, a town of 256 people, and who is living his dream of traveling the world. I teach school for the US Government overseas, and I have taught in Italy, England, three locations in Germany, and am now living/teaching in Taegu, Korea. The DOUGLAS part of my family probably came from Scotland, but I have not been able to trace them out of Missouri. My father's name was Glen Willard Douglas, and my grandfather's name was Allen Douglas. Allen was born in Marshfield, Missouri, but lived most of his life in Urich, Missouri. His mother's name was Elizabeth, but he didn't know anything about his parents other than that he thought his father had come from Tennessee. My mother's family background was German (Heller) and French (Maupin). I have been successful in locating records for the Hellers in Germany (I lived there for over 24 years) and the Maupin Family has done extensive research into their background. I'm a novice at this, but I'm very interested in finding out the following information: (1) more about the Douglas Family from the Marshfield, Missouri, area, (2) the names of great grand- parents, etc., (3) if the Douglases came from Tennessee, (4) from where in Tennessee, (5) why they left to come to Missouri, and (6) where they came from before Tennessee. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I know there is a Douglas Reunion every year in Missouri, but it is always held before I can arrive on vacation. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
