Notes for Mary Jane Gray:
She was a prisoner in the Civil War of the Confederate Army. When her husband was wounded in the Shenandoah Valley, she set out to find him and nurse him back to health. She was taken prisoner by the Confederates, spent some five months in a prison camp at Macon, Georgia and not permitted to communicate with her family in the North. Chapter #67 of Daughters of Union Veterans was named for her in 1924. She was 83 years old.

Served in the Union Army during Civil War and was wounded in the battle in the Shenandoah Valley.
