101. Woodman5 Okey (George4, Woodman3, Leven2, Thomas1)309 was born 1845 in Monroe County, Ohio, and died November 9, 1902 in Franklin TWP., Monroe County, Ohio309. He married Mary Jane Doolittle June 27, 1875 in Jackson County, West Virginia, daughter of Ephraim Doolittle and Sarah Ledsom. She was born July 18, 1857 in Jackson, West Viriginia, and died February 22, 1943 in Wilding, Jackson County, West Virginia.

Buried in Bracken Ridge Cemetery, Monroe County, Ohio.
Served in Civil War: Company F, 116th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Enrolled October 1, 1863 - Battle of Gettysburg - 1863; discharged April 29, 1864. Deserter charge dropped. Edward Okey (a brother of Woodman's Father, George) found him on " death's door in a hospital in Martinsburg, West Virginia" in March of 1864. Invalid application, 640774 Certificate 655377 Ohio, Widow's May 10, 1909, application 919726, No Cert. W. Va.
Woodman Okey moved West in 1865 and he spent several months in Benton County, Iowa where it is thought he had some family. He moved back to Ohio the summer of 1866. He lived with his sister, Catherine Okey Brister, in later years. He used a great deal of profanity and he used to say of his wife, 'Her name was Doolittle and be-jesus she did little.' Uncle Wood would sit on the porch at Bristers and rock with his Bible on his knee and use every cuss word in the book. If one of the children got too close to him, he would reach out and rap us across the head with his Bible. He was a salty old man and one of the most disagreeable that ever lived.
