She was born October 15, 1859 in Worthington, Dubuque, Iowa, and died May 11, 1953 in Cassville, Grant, Wisconsin.

First came to Cassville as a baby in 1849.
Was a sod farmer in Mayville, North Dakota starting in 1882. Failed financially and family returned to Cassville, Wisconsin in 1896.

Liked to play Chinese Checkers. Moved back to Cassville in 1896.
There are several copies of a cassette tape that she and Beth Okey made in 1953 in which she describes her early life in North Dakota.

Blocksburg, Humbolt Co., California Post Office History:
The post office was established January 30, 1877 and the town officially became Blocksburgh with an "h". It was authorized by the Post Office Department of Washington D.C. Mr. W. H. Forse of the Mendocino and Humboldt Stage Company brought the necessary documents to set the office in operation. He arrived by way of the steamer Humboldt.

The first three postmasters occupied the same building, but then the post office began a series of moves up and down the street locating in various buildings. At times it was in the Overland Hotel and the Helmke Mercantile building. Other times the post office had its own building. Apparently shoever was the postmaster could determine the location.

Deming O'Connor followed Georgeson as postmaster in April of 1886. A major fire which occurred that fall burned the post office and part of the Helmke building, so Mr. O'Connor was forced to move his office to another location.

On Apr 21, 1878 when Deming Loran was 29, he married Emma Olive HARRIS, daughter of William HARRIS (Nov 28, 1807-) & Tacy Elizabeth SALTZMAN (Oct 3, 1830-), in Blocksburg, Humboldt Co., California. Born on Feb 12, 1858 in Grass Valley, California. Emma Olive died in Fortuna, Humboldt Co., California, on Nov 22, 1936; she was 78.
