He was born November 2, 1888 in Guthrie Center, Guthrie County, Iowa, and died January 14, 1980 in Rifle, Garfield County, Colorado.

Notes for Flossie Edith Carmichael:
At one time she studied nursing in Ohio. Mrs. Bosier was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, James and Edward; two great grandsons John and Robert Arthur; four brothers; Tom, Will, Harry, George and one sister Opal Beck. At the age of 98 She decided it was time to die since she had outlived so many of her loved ones. She was mentally alert and enjoying life up until the last 6 months.
Flossie was active in her Methodist Church most of her life. Even after going to live in the nursing home she would go to the meetings.
Her life was not easy but she lived it and enjoyed the good times. She enjoyed frequent camping trips in Colorado with the family. She always wore her dress, nylons and corset. A favorite family joke was about "Grandma's favorite Plant" It seems she was climbing over some rocks and sat on a Yucca plant. We teased her for years after.
She was a fine seamstress and taught her granddaughters to sew. She also embroidered and crocheted items for her home. Her cinnamon rolls were a great family treat but it was years before the real special ingredient was discovered, "the touch of love" she always included.
Flossie was a collector of old china and the best items were given to family members after her death.
Guy and Flossie were married for 67 years. They lived in their little white house from 1956 until she went into the nursing home in 1982. They had a good marriage which was sparked by the occasional disagreement.
She was a good woman, wife and mother

At the age of ten, Guy had to quit school and go to work to help support his family as a teamster. However he never stopped learning as he was an avid reader all his life. When his eyesight failed in later years he received the books for the blind on tape and listened to them. He subscribed to U. S. News and World Reports to keep up on current events.

Guy enjoyed fishing whether for catfish in Iowa rivers or trout in Colorado. He fished for sunfish, walleyes, - He just fished. He took his granddaughter Janet to catch night crawlers after the thunderstorms in Guthrie Center, Iowa so he could have good bait for fishing. He also enjoyed deer hunting in Colorado with his son-in-law, Bob Ricketts.

At one time he was a volunteer fireman in Guthrie Center, Iowa. During WWII Guy worked for the Army as a civilian and moved around to several bases in Minneapolis, MN, Kansas City, KAN, Colorado Springs, CO, Camp Hale, CO and finally Rifle, CO. In Camp Hale, (1944-45) he was in charge of a group of German POWs who were dismantling the camp for the Army. In Oct. of 1945 the family ( Guy, Flossie, Daughter Virginia, and two grand daughters, Nancy and Janet Evans) moved to Rifle, Co.

Guy and Flossie opened a Chevron filling station and ran it for a couple of years. They sold this station and bought a nearby Phillips 66 station before moving to DeBeque and opening a restaurant. In 1949 they moved to Leadville and owned a laundry, however Guy had to move back to lower altitudes for health reasons and moved the laundry back to Rifle.

Guy and Flossie returned to Iowa to care for their aging Mothers and stayed there until 1956. Guy retired from the Rural Electric Association in Guthrie Center and then retired permanently to Rifle, Colorado.

He enjoyed smoking his pipes and used a cherry flavored tobacco. He enjoyed growing flowers, especially roses and collecting stamps. He had a Chihuahua named "wee one" for many years.

He was a kind and gentle man with his family. He provided a good living and worked hard all his life.

  Notes for VIRGINIA NELLE BOSIER:
Virginia had pleasant memories of growing up in Guthrie Center including the time she was swinging on a rope swing with her brother and cousins and almost tore her big toe off on a nail.

Graduating from high school in the middle of the Depression prevented her from attending college. A disappointment for the rest of her life. She played professional basketball in Des Moines, Iowa. for a couple of years. In 1938 she had her first daughter by her first of four husbands and settled down to work as a secretary. Her second marriage lasted approximately 18 months and produced a second daughter. With the commencement of WWII she began working for the Army and was frequently transferred from one Army post to another. She worked in Washington, DC, St. Paul, Minn., Kansas City, Missouri, Colorado Springs, Co, Camp Hail, Co, San Francisco, Calif. and finally the Oil Shale plant in Rifle, Co. It was in Rifle that she stopped moving around and remained for 47 years until her death.

Virginia was a tall (5'91/2") very good looking redhead. She had many boy friends over the years between marriages.

In Rifle she was a bookkeeper for several local firms. She was the hospital administrator for several years. She eventually retired from the City Clerks position. But she continued to work keeping books for two small businesses. The last two years she worked for the Retired persons group as Assistant Director.

She was a member of the Women of the Moose, having held many offices in the local and state lodges. In her later years she also joined the Rebekah lodge.

She was buried in the Rifle cemetery next to her husband Robert Ricketts.

She applied for Social Security in 1936. In 1936 she is working for the M. F. Patterson Dental Supply Company 318 Equitable Bldg., Des Moines, Iowa. Her home address was 1336 sixth Ave

Notes for ROBERT E. LEE RICKETTS:
There were ten children in his family. His mother died when the twin girls were born. The children were divided between various relatives in Arkansas, Colorado, and California. A large reunion was held in Rifle, Colorado in 1951 and the children were reunited for the first time.

Bob and Tip were sent to live with the Beard family in Colorado on their ranch on Divide Creek. Bob lived on the ranch for many years herding sheep and cattle. During the Depression he was incarcerated for poaching deer but they turned him loose because the County couldn't afford to feed him.

He went to school up to the 10th grade when he quit to make a living. However he was always reading and learning about the world. He knew a great deal about the woods and the plants that grow there. He knew the names of many of the wild flowers.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He taught his three girls to enjoy them with him. His favorite gun was a Model 94 Winchester, 30-30. He would always sight it in on a rock before setting out for a hunting season.

He served in the Army during WWII as a Sargeant. He was stationed in Alaska. He was a ski instructor among other things. While in Alaska he found time to fish and hunt.

For many years he owned his own bulldozer and contracted with State and Federal agencies. Later he worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Colorado DOT.

He was the best gift my Mother ever gave Nancy and I. He was a kind and loving man. He was strict but fair with his discipline. He would show a person how to do something one time and expect them to remember forever. He always said "If its not worth working for, its not worth having."

He had a gift for physic insights. He knew when things were going to happen. He told Mom he would marry her within a year, even though she was marrying someone else at the time. When it came time for his death he told Mom.
