3. JOHN2 CARMICHAEL, JR (JOHN1)7 was born 1779 in Pennsylvania, and died March 23, 1845 in Stafford, Monroe County, Ohio. He married MARY MEAD7 Bef. 1812. She was born Abt. 1783 in Maryland, and died Aft. 1850 in Monroe County, Ohio.

OHN CARMICHAEL, JR:
Served in the War of 1812. 6th Regiment Virginia Militia with: LT. Colonel Dickinson, Lt. Colonel Scott and Lt. Colonel Coleman under Captain John Bonnett's Company. The Regiment was in Norfolk. John served from April 23, 1814 to August 13, 1814. He traveled 520 miles from home for 29 days. He was paid a total of $36.15. The above militia company was composed of men in what is now Marshall county. It is copied from the original roll now in the hands of attorney J. Alexander Ewing, at present a member of the House of Delegates. It belonged to James Ewing, his grandfather. Out of this entire company here remains but two, James Knox and Jacob Crow. The former resided in Wheeling and the latter in the southern part of Marshall county

John came to Brook County with his father, (February 6, 1797) and then went to Marshall County with the other members of the family. In 1827 he sold his property in Marshall County and went to Monroe County, Ohio, where he served as Justice of the Peace. His estate was settled in Noble County, Ohio in 1845.

He married MARY REBECCA EARLEWINE10 Bef. 1814 in Marshall County, West Virginia10, daughter of ABRAHAM EARLEWINE and EVA GASSER. She was born March 12, 1783 in Ohio County, Virginia, and died August 07, 1857 in Stafford, Monroe County, Ohio.

AMES CARMICHAEL:
Was a prominent citizen of Franklin Township, served as Justice of the Peace and was a Methodist preacher.
The Carmichael family were outspoken abolitionists and were deeply involved with the underground railroad. (REF: John Ogden, )
Helped his family make a home out of the wilderness in Marshall County W. Va. but soon moved on to a new frontier in Monroe County, Ohio with his young family.
He cared for his father until his death.
Issue dated 5 March 1867 - Jacob McVay, appointed administrator of James Carmichael, 29 December 1866. Stafford Cemetery, Franklin TWP, Monroe County, Ohio - Carmichael, James died December 18, 1866, aged 77 years, 4 months, 22 days, - Carmichael, Mary, wife of James, died August 7, 1857, aged 73 years, 8 months, 18 days.
Issue dated 11 February 1868 - NOTICE - Jacob McVay, executor of the will of James Carmichael, deceased vs Mary Ann Carmichael, Widow, Lewis Carmichael, et al - to James Carmichael, whose place of residence is unknown and the unknown heirs of Matilda Davis whose place of residence are unknown who are heirs of James Carmichael, deceased - an order for sale of property in Stafford hearing set for the 14th of March 1868.

6. DAVID2 CARMICHAEL (JOHN1)12 was born September 23, 1793 in Pennsylvania, and died June 24, 1832 in Marshall County, West Virginia. He married ANNE CATHERINE BARNEY13 Bef. 1815 in Pennsylvania, daughter of GEORGE BARNEY and KATHERINE FAGLEY. She was born 1796 in Greensburg, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and died February 18, 1868 in Marshall, West Virginia.

AVID CARMICHAEL:
David was the only son that stayed on the land that the family had settled on and cleared in Marshall County. He was a fairly large man and hard worker. He was preparing to build a new house for his family and lifted too hard on a sawn log which caused hemorrhaging of the lung from which he never recovered. His home was near the Carmichael Cemetery. David was buried in the cemetery with the other family members.
